Snow Day

For my birthday, Bowling Green received a blanket of snow on Tuesday night. We woke up on Wednesday to see the ground and roads completely covered, causing all area schools to be closed. Oddly enough, even WKU was delayed for 2 hours. Cort decided to stay home that day with Simon. Below are pictures of his experience with (what was left of) the snow on Wednesday afternoon. Notice his non-hippo and non-giraffe shoes.

Hmmmm ... snow.

While Cort was at a conference, Simon and I played with the tripod I got for my birthday. He is a bit scared of it, I think. Maybe it looks like a big spider with three legs?

White Out

Despite the icy conditions that morning, devoted WKU fans made their way to campus Thursday night in order to WHITE OUT Diddle Arena. The Tops were playing probably their biggest game of the season against South Alabama. It was a standing-room-only crowd, with more than 7,700 present.

Cort, Simon, and I did our part for the White Out.

Sadly, the Tops lost 69-64, so they will almost certainly need to win the Sunbelt Tournament in a couple of weeks in order to make it to the NCAA Tournament.

Little Daredevil -- Updated

Simon has started his daredevil-ish tendencies ... riding sideways on his truck.

This is the basket where his toys are kept in our den. And yes, he climbed into it all by himself.

And why stop there? Next he climbed into his book box.

This morning he tried to climb into a laundry basket. He didn't make it, but I'm sure he'll try that again soon. Goodness.

Just got this photo from YaYa this morning -- apparently Simon was trying out his container-climbing skills with her last week.

Kisses, Cake, Climbs, and Cards

Since my brother and his family happened to be in town for the weekend, my family decided to go ahead and get together for my early birthday meal on Friday night! I can't remember the last time we were all together for my birthday, so it was a lot of fun.

...while Simon rubs his on everything he can reach. Some quickly ended up in his hair, which Uncle Jason referred to as "chocolate mousse."

After a de-chocolatizing bath, Simon and Henry decide to do some pre-bedtime climbing.

Then on Sunday, we headed to Elizabethtown for Cort's cousin Stevie and Jeana's baby shower. Preston Wesley Daugherty is expected to arrive in late March. Below, Jeana, Katlyn, and Stevie sort through their cards and gifts.

Happy Belated Groundhog Day!

Simon got to attend his first Groundhog Day Celebration at Nana B and Granddaddy's house last night. If you recall, sickness in the family prevented him from joining the festivities last year.

It was a night full of fun, with a full course of Groundhog yummies (like BBQ Groundhog) and the traditional Dirt Cake, games of Whack-A-Mole, the annual sharing of our favorite Groundhog Day memories, and of course we watched the movie Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray -- "BING!"

It was a night to remember!

We can't wait until next year! Happy belated Groundhog Day to everyone!

Tiny Trim

On Tuesday night after his bath, Simon's little duck-tail of hair was at its finest. We decided to give him his first "haircut." It was a momentous occasion. Simon acted like an old pro -- he calmly read his book during the 2-second event.

Finally -- New Pictures!

Lately we have been recovering from Cort's trip to New York City and my battle with a bad cough, so we have not had much time for pictures. We finally dug out the camera this week to take some new ones.

Simon helps Daddy change the lightbulbs in our really tall ceiling.

After that chore, Simon decided to take Daddy on in a wrestling match.

Simon's first experience with crayons. He was much more interested in eating them.

When eating wasn't an option, he chose to pull all of them out of the box. That's way more fun than actually coloring anyway.
