Spring Break Adventures 2009

While Cort was off for Spring Break, the weather warmed up enough for some fun adventures! Simon LOVES going to the park, so we loaded up and went to the one down the street from our house (Basil Griffin Park). He loved to swing, slide, and look at the ducks. We did all three ... many, many times.

Simon going on what he calls "bumps."

Lately, he and his "friends" have also bonded quite a bit. They all gather on the couch under several blankets and eat a snack while either reading a book or watching "DoraBoots" (Dora the Explorer) and "Diego" (Go Diego Go).

Simon has also discovered the artist within with his new watercolors. Below is a video showing his technique with colors ... and how to "dip, dip, dip."

The Mind of a 2-Yr Old

On Sunday before church, Simon asked Laurie to take him up to see the stained glass windows to "see baby Jesus." Upon seeing the baby Jesus in the manger, this exchange occurred:

Simon: "Baby Jesus need a diaper."
Laurie: "Oh really?"
Simon: "Baby Jesus need a diaper. Shew-wee baby Jesus."

Thus, a 2-year old reminds us of the humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ. And that he indeed needed cleaning and changing in his infancy.

Snow Business

Laurie's 30th birthday weekend was highlighted by a trip to the Bird Attack Nest (click the link to read more about this trip) to visit with Laurie's fam. Of course, there was cake, ice cream, and presents:

But the gang also attended the MTSU vs WKU hoops showdown. There are a lot of blue shirts here...and that matched their demeanor after WKU left with a convincing victory. :) Simon has a laugh with mom about it all while Henry wishes he'd worn red and Ada pleads for the Raiders to play some defense. :) All jokes aside, Henry has the "M-T-S-U, M-T-S-U, GO RAIDERS GO!" chant working quite impressively. Simon countered with the "T-O-P-S, TOPS! TOPS! TOPS!" cheer. The passion of March...

The unexpected part came Saturday night while we slept. We woke up to 5 inches of the friendliest snow-family building snow I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Big fun for everyone...but mostly Cort and Jason. Here's a shot of "Snow Daddy" with our fam.

Finally, Cousin Henry educated Simon on the process of making ice cream play-doh before we made the trip back to BG. Big fun for all!
