12-Month Check-Up

On Friday, Simon went for his 12-month check-up. His stats are below.

Weight: 20 lbs 1 oz (around 15th percentile)
Height: 29 3/4 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 49 cm (about 100th percentile)

He also got three shots -- those are never fun. We are also now officially on whole milk -- just had his first glass tonight. He had no problem with that. We are experiencing some eating issues, though -- his tastes are changing (unexpectedly) and we are also trying to get him to eat more "big people" food. If anyone has any advice, please let us know! :)

Breckinridge County Christmas 2007

On the 25th and 26th, we went to have Christmas with Cort's family. Here are a few pictures!

Simon and Uncle Dooney in their Santa hats.

Simon got a new truck!

Daddy helped him open his presents.

It's about nap time!

Simon and his Great-Papaw Basham. Great minds think alike -- they're both in their overalls. :)

Glasgow Christmas 2007

On the 23rd and 24th, we went to Glasgow to have Christmas. Here are some pictures below.

Henry and Simon enjoy the singing of the Dancing Marshmallow Snowman. Thanks Nana B. :)

So many presents!

Simon enjoys his drum and his old-school rotary telephone.

Kelly made all the kiddos matching hats. They were so cute!

Our picture taken at SKY Rehab, where all of our family gathered to have Christmas with my Grandmother who is currently staying there.

Burkesville Christmas 2007

Last Saturday, we traveled to Glasgow-Burkesville-Breckinridge County-Bowling Green. It was a whirlwind trip, but we had a lot of fun. The festivities began in Burkesville with a fabulous lunch -- then we traveled to Breck County for the annual Fish Fry at YaYa and Papa's house. Below are some pics from the trip.

Simon was still asleep when we arrived in Burkesville, so Uncle David volunteered to snuggle him while visiting with Lindsey Bell and Kelly (David's fiancee!).

After waking up, Simon and Lindsey got to know each other. Lindsey won Simon's heart when he lifted him to touch the ceiling fan cords.

Everyone enjoying the feast!

Soon-to-be-Aunt-Kelly gave Simon his first taste of mashed potatoes -- he loved them!

He even got some Christmas gifts!

NOTE: With all the craziness of the trip, we failed to get out the camera at the fish fry! We'll try to do better next year. :)

Happy First Birthday!

Exactly one year ago today, Simon made his appearance (which was about 3 weeks earlier than expected!). We have learned a lot, and are excited about what is to come. Here are a couple of pictures for you to enjoy.

Jolly Old Saint Nicholas

This afternoon, Simon finally made it to see Santa Claus. Although there are no smiles in the picture, he wasn't scared -- just extremely tired. It's a hard job seeing Santa (especially one with a real beard, real hair, and a real belly) when it's so close to your nap time!

Possible captions for this picture:
1. Simon pulls Santa's finger for a Christmas surprise!
2. Why does Santa still have on his pajamas?

Recent Loss

This has been a crazy and different week for our household. While preparing for the holiday close-down at WKU, we had a call on Sunday afternoon from my parents saying that my step-grandfather, Payne Boston, had passed away just minutes before. He was married to my grandmother, Nell, for 29 years. The funeral was yesterday in Glasgow. Please keep my dad, his brother, and his sister (and their families) in your prayers.

Little Dancing Chipmunk

As is our tradition, we bought a new Christmas CD this year. In honor of Simon, we bought one we thought he might like -- the Chipmunk Christmas collection. As we prepared dinner tonight, Simon let us know what he thought.

Welcome Madelyn Boyer!

On Friday, December 7 at 4.35 pm, our friends Julie and Brice Boyer welcomed the arrival of their second daughter, Madelyn (Maddie) Boyer (middle name not known at the time of this post). We are thankful that all are doing well.

Cortney holds little Maddie.

While everyone else was checking out the new arrival, Simon and his friends Larry (Julie's dad) and Grace (Julie and Brice's first and Maddie's big sister) walked the halls. I cannot tell you how many times Simon walked that hallway in the time we were there. :)

O Christmas Tree!

This past week we got our Christmas tree. Simon was a bit puzzled at first, but he has gotten used to the new decoration in our house.

Simon gets into the Christmas spirit with his Christmas sweater.

We got the tree up late one night -- no time to decorate at that point. This was taken the next morning.

Later in the week, we got it decorated after Simon went to bed. Check out his expression the next morning!

"What just happened?"

He plays with the branches some, and there are a couple of ornaments that the really likes to touch, pull off, and shake. :) So far, so good.

Redfoot's CD Release Show

Friday night, Cortney's band (Redfoot) had their CD release show at DUC Theatre. After a lot of time and hard work, they were glad to be able to make this happen. Thanks to all of the family and friends who came to support them. CDs are on sale for $10 if anyone needs a great Christmas gift for someone. :)

Redfoot

Simon at his first Redfoot concert. And yes, that is definitely the "big eye."

After listening to some music and visiting with everyone, Simon finally decided he'd had enough. Uncle David worked his sleeping-baby-magic again!
