Catch Up to Groundhog Day

Pardon our hiatus from blogging ... our computer has been down with a virus. The doctors (David and Kelly) have it up and running once again. Thanks guys!

Many things have been happening at our house during the break, but I will just try to make note of a few highlights.

1. Simon is completely potty trained during the day. As he works on his night-time training, we have adopted the same method -- no diapers or pull-ups -- just big-boy underwear. Too much info? Maybe. However, after almost making his goal several times, last week he stayed dry for 7 nights in a row. As a reward? A trip to the "Target Store" to get a toy. He's now on Day 5 of another 7-day stretch. If he succeeds? "White Pasta," or fettuccine alfredo, from Fazolis for a dinner treat.

2. Naomi is working on another tooth -- this will be number 3. It's a big one on the top, and it makes her quite cranky sometimes. She is pulling up by her own strength while holding onto our hands, hangs out on her belly a lot, squirms till she reaches an object out of reach, and will stay in the crawling position by herself. Cort has been helping her stand by herself -- which she will do for a few seconds. She jabbers a lot, which consists mostly of "da-da-da." I try to get her to say "ma-ma," but she looks at me with the sweetest smile, and says, "Da-da!" Oh well. We'll get there.

On to the present...

Due to a previous snow-out, on Saturday we gathered with the Vance family to celebrate Groundhog Day. We donned our Groundhog Day shirts from years past, watched the Groundhog Day movie, ate yummy groundhog snacks, and played fun groundhog games.

Henry, Simon, Ada, and Jason enjoy a rousing game of whack-a-groundhog.

Yummy dirt cake, by NanaB.

Amanda, enjoying the yummy, very chewy tootsie roll groundhog from the top of the cupcakes.

Aunt Kelly, cheering Simon on as he attempts to lob the beanie groundhog into a basket.
