VBS: Moses and Bob Marley
"EXODUS! Movement of Jah People!" ~Bob Marley, "Exodus," 1977.
That was the theme of our Vacation Bible School at our church. Actually, it was Moses and the Exodus of the Hebrew slaves, but Bob's music and lyrics were very appropriate. Themes for the week included: following our leader (God), leading by example (Christ), and listening to God (like Moses did). The overarching theme was "trailblazing." So, most of the crafts and lesson illustrations were about hiking and being on a journey. Laurie and I taught the 7-8 year kids. One never knows just how much sinks in, but I was pretty impressed with the quality of their recap of Moses' story and the Exodus on our last night.
Each night began with dinner and Bob Marley's Exodus album playing in the background. Then, three classes of kids rotated between crafts, lesson, and games. Each night, we ended with a reflection time from our pastor. His theme was staying on the path God has for us and not chasing "snipe" (read: distractions like wealth, selfishness, pride, busy-ness, etc.) along our path. If you don't know about snipe, ask me to take you on a snipe hunt soon. :)
Anyway, it was lots of fun and we got to meet a lot of new kids. Some pics:

1 Comments:
Simon looks like he enjoyed his first VBS. I can tell he was short on people to hold and entertain him. ha
Sarah, looks like you're a pretty good babysitter. :)
